Fall season kickoff meeting September 17


Campaign Against Human Trafficking-SouthShore, Inc., known as CAHT, kicks off the fall season with Natasha Nascimento, founder and director of Redefining Refuge, a therapeutic safe home for young girl and teen survivors of sexual exploitation who were involved in the region’s human trafficking business.

Ms. Nascimento, known nationally for being a catalyst for implementing successful rehabilitation procedures for human trafficking survivors, opened the first safe home in 2010.  Since then she has consulted all over the world on best practices for working with survivors.  Ms. Nascimento presentation will address the following topics:

What is Human Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation

Pathways and Precursors

Victim Identification and Engagement

Understanding the Impact

Ms. Nascimento’s experience and knowledge of the Tampa Bay Human Trafficking scene, a form of modern-day slavery, promises to bring a new level of awareness and education to all attending this important meeting.

CAHT’s general meeting is Monday, September 17 at the United Methodist Church, 1210 W. CAHT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Sun City Center, FL, whose mission is to provide funding and tangible items to safe homes, rehabilitation centers, and other human trafficking organizations that are on the front line in the battle against human trafficking.  CAHT also provides education and prevention programs to schools, churches, clubs, and healthcare organizations on human trafficking in the SouthShore area.
