“Holiday Fun in the Sun” Parade and WinterFest—Don’t Miss it!

Ready for some “Holiday Fun in the Sun”? That’s the theme for the December 13 SCC Golf Cart Parade and WinterFest.
Parade entrants must return registrations to the CA Office by December 10. You can get them at the CA Office, the Atrium ticket kiosk and both Kings Point clubhouses. In addition to three raffles for $200, $300 and $500 for cart entries, prizes will be awarded for 18 decorated carts—thanks to Minto Communities, which is donating $6,000 for parade expenses.
To add to the fun day, Minto is holding its 4th Annual WinterFest which starts at 11 a.m. and ends at 2:30 p.m. That event promises to be better than ever. It will include almost 40 vendors–seven for food. There will also be free massages, a photo booth, caricatures and a pet contest (at noon). LADYHAWKE, a local band, will be providing entertainment.
Dave Birkett, parade chairman, said that, in addition to spreading the prize money among more participants this year, the committee is making another change for easier identification of winning carts. Prior to the parade, a big red award ribbon will be affixed to the 18 winning carts. A lead cart will have a large sign alerting onlookers about the ribbons. However, until awards are presented at the end of the parade, neither the participants nor onlookers will know how those winners placed. All the winning carts will be parked in one area under the trees by the bandstand.
The parade will start promptly at 10 a.m. from the CA parking lot parallel to N. Pebble Beach Boulevard. It will turn right out of the lot on LaJolla, right on El Rancho, right on Ojai and left on Cherry Hills to the bandstand area.
